FOG DESIGN+ART FAIR, SAN FRANCISCO
RAW EDGES | 23 - 26 January 2025
We are excited to announce that ‘Of Cut Chairs II’ our latest work in the series will be showcased at FOG Design+Art in San Francisco as part of Sarah Myerscough Gallery's curated exhibition Raw Edges. “The edge, like the work itself, must contend with imperfection—it is a space where the natural irregularities of the material are resolved or celebrated, and where the workmanship is either proven or betrayed.” - David Pye (The Nature and Art of Workmanship, 1968)

This series combines hand-crafting and digital manufacturing, united by the mission to reduce waste wood within the timber industry. Typically considered ‘low grade’ timber, despite taking 100’s of years to grow and having sequestered many tons of carbon in their lifetime. A series of cuts are digitally designed and milled, making features out of the spilts, gnarly knots and irregularities. Painstakingly sanded to a high sheen and finished with a light coat of oil. Transforming this typically overlooked material into something splendid to behold.
