We Are Hiring! Workshop / cad intern
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time Workshop & CAD intern to work with us in a bespoke design and craft practice at the forefront of British furniture design.
We are looking for a competent woodworker who has previous workshop experience, ideally with some knowledge of CAD. The successful candidate will assist Gareth in the workshop and studio, helping create furniture as well as smaller scale products.
As a key player in this small team, this role would suit an individual who is a self starter and happy to get on with a job.
The position will be 2-3 days a week based at our studio/workshop in Haggerston, N1 5BJ, with some degree of flexibility depending on circumstances.

Gareth Neal is a progressive and innovative London-based design studio established in 2006. We design for production and site-specific projects and have a reputation for redefining traditional crafts for a contemporary audience, whether that’s collaborating with the UK’s best craftspeople, or challenging the perceptions of digital fabrication techniques within craftsmanship. The studio has a broad and exciting spectrum of design outputs across three key areas: collectables, commissions and collaborations.

Candidate Key Criteria
Previous workshop experience.
Knowledge of machinery such as Table saw, band saw, router etc.
Competent at Solid Works and/or Rhino.
Able to read technical drawings & understand cutting lists.
Good time management.
Can lift heavy objects (eg. lumps of wood)
Organised
Eye for detail and precision
Important Information
Part -Time: (2-3 days a week) for 4 months: September, October, November, December with a potential view to continue.
Paid: London Living Wage (if more experienced we are open to discussing salary)
